Breastfeeding in public

image

I had the most interesting of experiences the other day.

While out shopping I saw a young mum sitting in her car, breastfeeding her young baby.  She was sitting discreetly with a towel obscuring her breasts.  As I walked past her car, I heard a male fellow shopper telling her, in a voice that drew attention to the situation, that she “should go home where she belonged to feed her baby” and that “he didn’t want or need to see that in public”.

I was shocked, especially when I remembered that the week before I had seen the same gentleman on the beach happily taking in the view of all the young ladies, in bikinis that showed more breast, then this beautiful mother sitting in her car.

Frozen by Fear or Phobia

Most people have something that they are afraid of, getting in a lift, spiders or snakes or any from this list.  How we manage that depends on the phobia.  If it is something that you don’t encounter every day, like “big foot”‘ your phobia probably will not impact your life, but if it is something like “leaving the house” it can be debilitating and have a profound impact on your quality of life.  Trying to identify, resolve or accept your fear or phobia, can free you up to have a more fulfilled life.  See my Resources Page for one method of addressing fears and phobias.

Struggle to get the kids off to school

I hear many parents lamenting about how difficult it is to get the young ones off to school.

When i ask, what seems to be the problem – 9 out of 10 – parents say ‘they wont turn the TV or ipad off when asked’.

I can see exactly what the problem is!

And how to solve it!

Why have TV and ipads etc turned on before school?

No TV = No problem

7 Step Method for healing your own trauma

Yesterday I introduced a concept of re-experiencing trauma to untangle the threads of how it can dominate your life.

I have since, had the opportunity to take this one step further and undertake the 7 Step Method detailed in that article.  This link will take you directly to that ‘Method’ How to heal your own trauma.

As a practitioner of Reiki and being familar with meditation I found it easy to follow the steps without a support person.  However, please ensure you are confident in your ability to work without a support person before ‘going it alone’.

It is my belief, that you will have to continue using these 7 Steps over a period of time to feel the benefits.  Please don’t lose heart, if the results are not immediately felt.

If you fall asleep during your first attempt, do not feel let down, your body knows what it needs and sleep may be the best approach to this healing process in the first instance.

Please feel free to contact me, if you would like some guidance or advice with this process.

Here is something fun – Grandparents Book

Sometimes Grandparents feel so alienated from their grand children. This could be as a result of physical distance, inability to visit or relationship breakdown within the grandchilds home.
One thing grandparents might like to do, is create a personalised book for the child. The book/books can be enjoyed from birth till forever, by your grandchild.

Here are some places to check out, and an example to get you started on your own story.

StoryJumper

OR

Check out this cool app that I found for grandparents.

Grandparents can write stories and include pictures, to be read to their grandkids in their absence. They can go something like this….

Jamie, say hello to Grandma and Grandpa (insert your own photo)
We live a long way away from where you live (insert picture of your house)
We will come to visit you as much as possible, and you can come visit us too.
When you come to visit, grandpa and I will take you to the beach (insert photo)
There is a zoo near us and we can go there to see the animals (insert photo)
Grandpa has a boat, and he can take you fishing (insert photo)
When you come to stay with us, you will also meet your cousins, aunty’s and uncle’s (insert photo)
………. And so on. I am sure you get the picture.

Good luck. It will be a great way to stay in your grandchilds life, when you can’t physically be there.

Search for ‘Story Creator’ in App Store. This is a free app for your iPad.

And I am sure there are many others.

Hope you have fun with is 🙂

Let me know how it goes or if your need more assistance, or suggestions
