Tips for living with lies

I have posted a couple of articles about the impact of people within our circle telling lies.

We know that we can’t change other people’s behaviour

We know that honesty and trust is important to us

Do we discard the friendship or relationship because of the lies?

Nearly 95% of people will say yes… But it might be your child that is telling you lies

So what do you do?

Here are a couple of little tips

  1. Ask yourself… Is there evil intent in the lie?
  2. Ask yourself …Does that lie threaten me, or harm me?
  3. If the answer to the above questions are “No”, then let the lie pass you by. Don’t give it any power.
  4. Last tip…. It has long been accepted that you ‘shouldn’t check up on others’.  However if you need to check up on someone who is lying to you, DON’T feel guilty.  As long as your intention is only for your own sense of safety and your own peace of mind.  Ask around, check if she is at the parent teacher meeting when she said she would be, or that your son really is having a sleepover at his mates.  DON’T let it become an obsession and DON’T use it as a power tool or control method over others. Just do it for your own peace of mind.  Over time, it will help you to answer the first two questions with clarity and make ‘living with a liar’ possible and peaceful for you.  Trust in yourself and it doesn’t matter about trust in others.

Home made lotion Recipe

When I started looking around at essential oils and moisturisers, lotions etc, I discovered that I can create a lotion to suit my needs, adding the essential oils that work for me.

This weekend I am going to try this recipe.  I will let you know how it goes.

Frankincense and Myrrh Lotion (Thank you Dr Axe)

1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup bees wax

1/4 cup Shea butter

2 tbsp Vitamin E

20 drops frankincense essential oil

20 drops myrrh essential oil

BPA free plastic lotion dispenser bottles

Directions

  1. Put olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax and Shea butter in glass bowl then place that bowl in saucepan with water.
  2. Heat stove to medium and mix ingredients together
  3. Once mixed put in refrigerator for an hour until solid
  4. With a regular mixer or hand mixer beat the mixture until it is whipped and fluffy.  Then add essential oils and vitamin E and mix
  5. Fill container and store in cool place.

REMEMBER, for the best results, buy the most natural and organic ingredients possible

See these links for the health benefits of Frankincense essential oil and Myrrh essential oil.

Emotions are like the surf

image

Emotions are meant to rise and fall like the surf.

Some days the surf is rough, some days it is calm or on the days when the sun glistens on its surface it is glorious.

If we learn to ride our emotions like the surf our levels of anxiety, stress and depression will pass.

Lets just learn to keep our emotions out of ‘the rip ……’

Why do I get upset when someone lies to me?

We have been taught that lying is a bad thing, but at the same time we were conditioned to lie as we grew up…. So where does that leave us? How does that make us feel?

Lets take an honest look at lying. Here is a very interesting perspective, that may help you look at the situation differently, or at least dissolve your emotional reaction when lies are discovered in your environment.

Climate Change

“Not more about climate change” I hear you moan…

“Hasn’t there been enough discussion about that, and opinions are divided”.

But here is some food for thought.  I learned the other day, that the Australian Plate is moving north at approximately 5.6 cm per year.

Wouldn’t that have a dramatic impact on climate over time?

Check it out – see what you discover and let me know.

Marketing tricksters

My Dad used to say ‘Don’t believe what you hear and only half of what you see’…. Interesting if you think about it, but today I want to point out a little marketing trick.

This is mainly for Australian readers, but watch for it where you live.

We have ‘Industry Super Funds’ which are marketed as the best superannuation funds for ‘high returns’.  There are a number of Industry super funds and they all display this symbol image

However, many superannuation funds say they are ‘Industry super funds’, however without the symbol indicating their satisfaction of the criteria necessary to be a member of the ‘Industry super fund’, they are tricking their audience.

Remember to do your research thoroughly if you wish to be in an ‘Indusrty Super Fund’.

The same also applies to accreditation for adult training and education.  Look for this symbol if you want your studies to be nationally recognised in Australia.
